Ratnagiri : The work of Mumbai-Goa highway is stalled due to some contractors. This work has been going on since 2012. The Grand Alliance government alone is not responsible for this. The Union Minister also expressed his regret regarding the work of this highway. But now the Center has decided to complete this highway by December 2024, said Industries Minister Uday Samant.
He was speaking at a press conference at the Government Rest House. NCP President Sharad Pawar, who visited Chiplun recently, expressed his displeasure about the Mumbai-Goa highway. He was told that if the government of Mahavikas Aghadi comes in the future, these stalled highways will be completed. Industries Minister Uday Samant said that the work of this highway started in 2012. Sharad Pawar was the government at that time. Pawar was a minister at the Centre. I also had the opportunity to work in that government.
Since then, in the work of this highway, there were issues of some locals, issues of contractors, land acquisition itself. However, some claims are still pending in court. The highway work has been stalled due to wrongful work done by some contractors in the highway work. Therefore, if Sharad Pawar is expressing displeasure about the work, then a government cannot be responsible for him, said Minister Uday Samant.
Message regarding appointment of Chief Minister
Samant said, ‘Pawar has given the right message to the Thackeray group in the Mahavikas Aghadi regarding the appointment of Chief Minister. It is inappropriate to appoint the Chief Minister himself. Therefore, Pawar has indicated that no one should run. Pawar also expressed the possibility that the party which has more strength will be the Chief Minister. But he also teased that some overzealous people of the Congress are walking around in the pretense of becoming the Chief Minister.’
