* Kankavali, Day-24:-* During Ganeshotsav, a large number of chakarmanis reach their village in Konkan. Keeping this in mind, the railway administration had released special trains during Ganeshotsav period. This year, the highest number of 310 special trains ran on the Konkan Railway route. The Konkan Railway Administration has informed that lakhs of passengers entered Konkan from Mumbai area and returned to Mumbai from Konkan. Every year extra trains are released by the Railway Administration keeping in mind the Ganeshotsav and Konkan festival. On the one hand, as the reservations of regular trains are ‘full’ in the month of May itself, employees are waiting for the announcements of these Ganeshotsav special trains. This year, the Ganeshotsav special trains were announced from the month of July itself. Announcements of special trains continued till Ganeshotsav approached. Even unreserved trains were released. The Ganeshotsav special trains which started from September 3 were running till September 19. As many as 310 Ganeshotsav special trains ran during this period. These trains ran from Ughna, Vishwamitri, Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai Central, CSMT, LTT, Bandra, Panvel to Ratnagiri, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Madgaon, Surathkal, Mangalore, Thokur. Interestingly, the trains also have halts at most of the stations in Konkan.
Buses are full during Ganeshotsav, while private comfort bus fares are not affordable. In such a case, railway is the most important option for employees considering financial matters. The railway administration also thought of the employees and released a large number of special trains this year.
