Four snakebites from the same family! Predeceased by three sisters; Father’s condition is critical!!

A shocking incident has come to light in Odisha’s Boudh district. Here four people of the same family were bitten by a snake. Three Sakkhya sisters died on the spot due to snakebite. It is said that the father’s condition is also alarming. The names of the three sisters are Sudhirekha (age 13), Shubrekha Malik (age 12) and Saurabhi Malik (age 3).*The incident took place on Sunday night. Surendra Malik, a resident of Chariyapali village under Tikarpada panchayat, was sleeping with his family. In the night, the whole family woke up as their daughters health started to deteriorate. The girls were having trouble breathing. Sulendra saw a snake crawling nearby. He called his wife for help. Immediately all four were taken to the district hospital. All the three girls were declared brought dead at the hospital. While Sulendra has been referred from Buddh District Hospital to Vimsar Medical College, Burla. According to the information received, Sulendra’s condition is also critical. Doctors say that the three sisters may have been bitten by a Crete snake. In Odisha, 2,500 to 6,000 people are bitten by snakes every year. Of these, 400 to 900 people die every year due to snakebite. In 2023-24, at least 1011 people lost their lives due to snake bites. This year also 240 people have lost their lives due to snakebite in Odisha. Government of Odisha gives Rs 4 lakh to families of snakebite victims. The person dies within a few hours after being bitten. Five times more venomous than the common krait cobra. It is also known as silent killer. Actually its bite does not cause much pain. In such a situation, many people are initially unaware that they might have been bitten by a snake. This snake bites mostly those sleeping on the ground. This snake comes out mainly at night.
