. MUMBAI: As electricity consumers across the state are already reeling from the increased electricity bills, there is going to be a further increase in electricity rates. The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has issued multi-year electricity tariff regulations. Therefore, it is mandatory for all the electricity companies to submit the electricity tariff hike proposal (revenue requirement) for the next five years to the Electricity Commission by the end of November. Therefore, it is clear that the related electricity companies will increase the electricity price in the future and the burden will fall directly on the common electricity consumers. According to the provisions of the Electricity Act and the provisions of the MERC regulations, it is mandatory to submit a proposal to the Electricity Commission for the revenue requirements required for electricity generation, electricity transmission and electricity distribution companies. Regulations in this regard have been issued by MERC. Accordingly, the power companies have to submit the multi-year revenue requirement proposal from 2025-2026 to 2029-2030 to the Electricity Commission. Therefore, all the electricity generation, transmission and distribution companies including Mahanimti, Mahapareshan, Mahavitaran, Adani Electricity, BEST, Tata Power will have to submit a proposal for fixing the electricity tariff. If this proposal is approved, the electricity consumers who have come to Metakuti due to the already increased electricity tariff will lick their pockets. *Decision at the end of March, new tariff from 1st April * After the electricity companies have proposed multi-year electricity tariff fixation for the next five years, the proposal will be finalized after technical scrutiny by the Electricity Commission. After that, a public hearing will be held before the Electricity Commission by calling for suggestions and actions on the proposal from the electricity consumers in the area of ββoperation of the respective electricity companies. The electricity commission will take a decision on the electricity tariff proposal before 31st March after considering the suggestions and actions received in it. Thereafter, the new electricity tariffs will be implemented from 1st April, 2025. *What will be included in the proposal?*- Exact adjustment of increased cost incurred by electricity companies in the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24 will be included under the heading.- Increase in the year 2024-25 Expenditure will be included under temporary adjustments- revenue requirement for the next five years
