Rajapur : The inclusion of the Tilori Kunbi sub-caste in the Other Backward Classes list of the Maharashtra government has made it easier for the members of the Kunbi community to get Obosi certificates. For this MLA Dr. Rajan Salvi made an interesting presentation in the convention. This change will benefit the Kunbi community of Konkan.
In the meeting of the Backward Classes Commission held in January 2023 in Ratnagiri district, the President had given a verbal order that OBC certificates should not be given to the proof-holders mentioned as Tilori Kunbi. Therefore, issuing of OBC certificates to Tilori Kunbi brothers was stopped. At that time, there was a meeting with the delegation of Kunbi community including Tilori Kunbi brothers in the prominent presence of Caste Verification Committee Chairman Padiyar and Deputy Commissioner Pramod Jadhav.
To get a caste certificate, one had to work hard. In this regard, MLA Dr. in Social Welfare Office. Bhaskarrao Jadhav, Vaibhav Naik along with MLA Salvi drew the attention of the government in Rajan Salvi’s session. On this occasion, Backward Classes Minister Atul Sadhe promised to seek a report from the commission.
A meeting of State Backward Classes Commission members and community members was also held at the Collector’s office. At that time Member of Maharashtra State Commission for Backward Classes Prof. Govind Kale, Dr. MLA Salvi met Neelima Sarap and discussed about the Tilori Kunbi case. Then the delegation of Kunbi community prepared a report along with the evidence collected about Tilori Kunbi and submitted it to the State Backward Classes Commission Committee in accordance with the discussion in the Legislative Assembly regarding the Tilori Kunbi case. The State Backward Classes Commission had submitted a report to the government and recommended the inclusion of Tilori Kunbi sub-caste in the list of other backward classes. This recommendation is accepted.
The inclusion of Tilori Kunbi sub-caste in the list of Other Backward Classes of the Government of Maharashtra was raised in the assembly session. This pursuit has been successful.
