The provisions of the new law are unfair: the role of the 'Steering Chhodo' movement…
Amit Khot Malvan : In the event of a vehicle accident, the concerned driver shall be punished for 10 years and a fine of Rs. 7 lakh, as the provisions of the law which have been approved are unfair to the driver, a 'Leave Steering' movement has been launched and this movement should be considered sympathetically. Malvan Taluka Dumper, Tractor, JCB , was presented to the Tehsil Administration on behalf of Tempo Driver-Owners Association and Taluka Local Tempo Driver-Owners Association. A discussion was also held with Police Inspector Praveen Kolhe.
In the statement, it is mentioned that in case of an accident of a vehicle, the Indian Penal Code Act provides for ten years imprisonment and a fine of up to seven lakh rupees against the driver concerned. Actual vehicular accidents are not caused by the driver concerned knowingly but by the particular circumstances of the time, including bad roads, winding roads or the sudden act of pedestrians crossing the road. Irrespective of this particular situation, if a ten year sentence and a fine of seven lakhs are imposed against the accident driver, the family of the concerned driver will face starvation and the whole family will be destroyed. Drivers are from poor families and their salary is also limited. In such a situation, we on behalf of our organization are carrying out the Stop Steering movement to get the attention of the government through peaceful means to research the provision made in the law. However, it has been mentioned that this movement should be considered sympathetically. Local tempo drivers, dumpers, tractors, JCB drivers, owners of the taluk were present on this occasion.
