Distribution of 8969 grafts – seedlings to 1417 farmers in two districts

A joint venture of Navbharat Chhatralay Parivar, Ashwini Agro Farm in Dapoli

Sangameshwar Dt. 31 : Kunbi Seva Sangh, Dapoli under Navbharat Chhatralay Parivar and Mrs. Sushma and Prof. In association with Prabhakar Shinde’s Ashwini Agro Farm, a total of Rs. Free distribution of 8 thousand 969 cuttings of saplings was done. President of Kunbi Seva Unions Prof. Under the leadership of Prabhakar Shinde, both these organizations have been implementing this activity for the last ten years out of a sense of social commitment.

During this year’s rainy season too, Navbharat Chhatralay Parivar provided free seeds of improved varieties of vegetable crops such as padwal, karli, okra, shirali, cucumber and pumpkin developed by Konkan Agricultural University to 651 farmers in 27 villages of six talukas of Ratnagiri district, which have benefited many farming families.

Among the 1,267 farmers who benefited from the free grafting scheme from five talukas of Ratnagiri district, 440 from six villages in Dapoli, 330 from three villages in Khed, 147 from two villages in Mandangad, 350 from five villages in Chiplun and 100 from one village in Lanjya. 150 farmers from twelve villages of Roha taluka of Raigad district benefited from this initiative. These include Haveli, Kinhal, Dehen, and Sukondi by Kiramba, Palgad, Pangri in Dapoli taluk of Ratnagiri district, Pirlote, Ghanekhunt and Gunde in Khed taluk, Tondli and Atkhol in Mandangad taluk, Khandat Pali, Parashuram, Nandive, Riktoli and Tiwre in Lanja taluk and Beni in Lanja taluk. The villages included Khurd Kherwase. The villages included Khambere, Temghar, Sudkoli, Khutal, Khope, Kokban, Bhagirathi, Khar, Gopalgad, Kudli, Bahe and Devkane in Roha taluka of Raigad district.

Under this initiative, except Dehen and Sukondi villages of Ratnagiri district, four kokum saplings, two black pepper saplings and one two-year-old chick cutting were provided free of cost to every farmer. While in Dehen and Sukondi, one two-year-old mango graft, one chiku graft and two cashew saplings were provided free of cost to each farmer. In twelve villages of Raigad district, three mango cuttings and three chiku cuttings of two years old were distributed free of cost to every farmer.

The 8969 cuttings provided free included 4268 kokum seedlings, 2334 black pepper seedlings, 1667 two-year-old chickoo cuttings, 500 two-year-old mango cuttings and 200 cashew seedlings. Out of this a total of Rs. 1,99, 300 worth of 4268 kokum seedlings, 630 chickoo cuttings, 100 mango cuttings and 200 cashew nut seedlings were supplied from Navbharat Chhatralaya Parivar’s agricultural center, while a total of Rs. 2, 30, 790 worth of 2334 black pepper seedlings, 400 mango cuttings, and 1037 chickpea cuttings were supplied from Ashwini Agro Farm.

Officials of the organization were present in all the villages to distribute free cuttings and saplings and gave information about the activities of the organization and also gave technical guidance about the cultivation of fruit trees and also convinced the economics of cultivation.

Many individuals worked hard in coordination and implementation between the organization and village officials and farmers to distribute free grafted seedlings. Shraddha Reddy’s, Ward Coordinator working under Umaid Program in Chiplun Panchayat Samiti Mrs. Dr. Gautami Dinde Patne, Junior Research Assistant in the Department of Extension Education, College of Agriculture, Dapoli. Praveen Jagde and rural awareness work experience program Krishi Kanya, President of Mandangad branch of Kunbi Samjonnatti Sangh Dinesh Sapte, Dr. Rajaram Madav, president of Basakokrivi Retirees’ Public Service Committee, Ganesh Bhagat, director of Bijamrut Farmers Producers Company, Roha, Shantaram Gade, president of Kunbi Seva Sangh, Lanja and Navbharat Chhatralay, former students of Dapoli, Dinesh Rane, Vishwanath Tambade and Sunil Gurav were among those present.

Harishchandra Kokamkar, General Secretary of Kunbi Seva Sanghs, did the work of providing cuttings-seedlings, distribution of cuttings-seedlings and scheduling and implementing the guidance program as per the demand of the farmers, all these works were done with great planning, that’s why this program could be successful.

President of Kunbi Seva Unions Prof. Under the leadership and guidance of Prabhakar Shinde, Vice President Dr. Pramod Sawant, General Secretary Harishchandra Kokamkar, Treasurer Pradeep Ipte, Members Prabhakar Terekar, Chandrakant Mohite, Dinesh Rane, Suresh Lokhande, Shivprasad Chaugule diligently implemented this educational program successfully. All village functionaries, farmers and women appreciated the initiative and thanked both the organizations. Especially the President of Kunbi Seva Unions Prof. Prabhakar Shinde and Mrs. Ashwini Agro Farms. Heartfelt thanks to Sushma Shinde and Rajkiran Shinde. All of them assured that they will plant the allotted Kalma saplings properly, take care of them and pay off the debt of the institute.
