Al Zawayda Municipality in the central Gaza Strip governorate has launched a distress call after the municipality’s central sewage pumping station went out of service due to the lack of spare parts needed for maintenance and the occupation’s prevention of their entry.
The municipality said in its appeal that the cessation of the main pump due to the occupation’s refusal to bring in maintenance supplies that serve the municipalities of Al Zawayda and Al Nuseirat led to the closure of surrounding streets and roadblocks in addition to sewage entering the tents of the displaced, which doubles their suffering.
Al Zawayda Municipality called on all concerned organizations to provide aid and assistance to stop this disaster.
The bloody war waged by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip has destroyed the infrastructure in the services sector related to water and sewage and led to an almost complete shutdown of treatment and pumping stations, which forced municipalities to divert sewage water into the sea, which threatens an environmental disaster.
