Demand from Shiv lovers to search for missing cannons at the entrance of Rajapur Tehsil Office

Rajapur : One of the two historic cannons at the entrance of the Tehsil Office is missing. Shiv lovers have demanded that the gun should be searched by the administration. In the current atmosphere, the subject of cannons that disappeared seven to eight years ago has received a good deal of light. Situated at the foothills of Sahyadri, Rajapur has a rich historical heritage. The famous port in the city of Rajapur was famous as an export center during the British occupation. During that time, the world trade was carried out through this port.

The British also built a fort at this place during that time with the aim of increasing the expansion of the state and controlling the trade here; However, it is recorded in the history that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who established the Hindu Swarajya with the aim of appeasing the British, robbed the British of this power. Two guns of that time were in the premises of Tehsildar office here.

During 1979, the erstwhile Tehsil Kacheri was shifted to the present location. At the same time, in order to preserve the historical cannons in Wakhari, these cannons were placed on two sides at the entrance of the new Tehsil Office; However, one of the two cannons is not in place. During the construction of the Shiv Memorial at Jawahar Chowk, an attempt was made to locate the guns placed near the Tehsildar entrance of the office. After that, there is a constant demand from Shiva lovers to search for cannons.

There are many monuments in this place which testify to the prowess of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is necessary for the administration to search for historical cannons which are one of them and preserve and conserve them. In that regard, immediate action should be taken. – Vivek Gurav, Hinduvi Swarajya Pratishthan
