*Malvan, D-24:-* Sambhaji Raje Chhatrapati had sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 12, 2023 expressing his feelings about the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his Rajkot fort. Expressing his pain after the statue collapsed today, he has once again posted a letter sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. In this he said that the efforts being made by celebrating the Indian Navy Day on December 4, 2023 are appreciated. In fact, there are many full-length idols of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj created almost a hundred years ago in Maharashtra. Many renowned sculptors born in the soil of Maharashtra use modern tools
These sculptures have been realized despite the scarcity. However, the sculpture that we have unveiled at Rajkot does not seem to fit the standards of fine sculpture. Even though many modern tools are available, the construction of this sculpture does not look effective and linear. Deficiencies are seen in many parts of the idol. The arms, legs and face of the idol are out of proportion. It is not clear whether this sculpture is permanent or just a temporary sculpture installed by our hands to carry out the unveiling program and later a good sculpture will be installed here. However, it was requested that a new sculpture suitable for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should be replaced at this place as soon as it will be considered as a model of fine sculpture after a thorough examination by an expert committee of the government.
