Contractual workers in the power industry will get 19 percent wage hike

Uran Day 10 (Vitthal Mamtabade): In view of the various demands of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh affiliated to the Maharashtra Vijj Kontrati Kamgar Sangh, State Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting of the Maharashtra Vijj Kontrati Kamgar Sangh at the Sahyadri Government Residence in Mumbai and announced that the contract workers in the electricity industry will be given a 19% wage hike with a difference.
Job security cannot be unilaterally terminated merely because the contractor has changed. Under the Mahatma Phule Arogya Yojana, health insurance benefits up to Rs.5 lakh will be provided. By opening an account in a nationalized bank, accident insurance will be provided through it, court case list will be added to contact portal, contract workers will be given age relaxation in employment, company logo I-card will be given to all, separate category will be implemented for electricity industry by October 15, 2024, contractors who do illegal activities will be dealt with according to the provisions of the law. Action will be taken.
This salary increase is dt. Will be applicable from March 2024. Court cases and unfairly retrenched workers will be reinstated. Hon’ble Devendraji Fadnavis has assured the Maharashtra Vij Kontrati Kamgar Sangh (affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) in a meeting that in the case where the Government of Haryana has demanded permanent employment without contractors, the workers will be given justice after studying at the government level.
Nilesh Kharat, the president of the organization, has taken a stand that the contractors exploit the workers economically, psychologically and socially on a large scale, so the Maharashtra government should take a concrete and strategic decision to give justice to these exploited victimized workers and the government has welcomed this time. On this occasion, General Secretary Sachin Mengale has congratulated all the workers who have successfully participated in the struggle of Maharashtra Viz Contract Labor Unions and have faith in Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. Devendraji Fadnavis assured the delegation that in the future, the government will be positive on the workers’ issues and will try to give justice to the workers through discussion.
