RIYADH — Italian coach Stefano Pioli, the newly appointed head coach of Al-Nassr, shared his thoughts after watching all of the club’s matches this season.
He emphasized that the upcoming games will reveal the team’s strengths and areas for improvement.
Speaking at a press conference alongside the club’s sporting director, Spaniard David Hierro, ahead of Al-Nassr’s match against Al-Ettifaq on Friday, Pioli reflected on his first task as head coach, having taken over from Portuguese coach Luis Castro.
“I have watched all of Al-Nassr’s matches this season, but our focus now must be on the future. The team has the potential to achieve good results,” Pioli said.
He added: “We will work on developing the entire team and utilize all available resources. We will build our playstyle without waiting for the opponent’s tactics. The upcoming games will teach me more about the team’s strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities. We hope to deliver positive results.”
Pioli, who spent 25 years coaching in Italy, expressed excitement about his new role. “I am looking for a new experience. After coaching in Italy for 25 years, I wanted a fresh start, and I thank Al-Nassr for their strong ambition,” he said.
He also revealed that he received several offers but was particularly drawn to Al-Nassr’s project.
When asked about concerns from fans regarding his frequent moves between Italian clubs, Pioli responded: “I have coached many teams, and it’s challenging to build a long-term path with a single club. I am here to bring something positive to Al-Nassr.”
