Chief Justice DY Chandrachud’s last working day is over!

New Delhi : Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has retired from today. Today was his last day as a judge of the Supreme Court. Chandrachud’s tenure will end on November 10, but today is his last day as the Supreme Court has a holiday on November 9 and 10.

He gave an important decision on the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University and bid farewell to all.

At this time Chandrachud was emotional. His photo is going viral on social media. In this he is bowing his head and saluting everyone. At this time many lawyers including Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Kapil Sibal bid farewell to Chandrachud through online streaming.

During his farewell, Chandrachud said, “If anyone has been hurt, I apologise.” Chandrachud’s tenure was two years. At this time he gave some historical decisions. He gave many decisions like Ram Mandir, Electoral Bond, Homosexual Marriage, Article 370. The political dispute in Maharashtra came to Chandrachud’s own court. But, Chandrachud could not decide on it.

How will history judge my career?
How will history evaluate my career? Could I have done something different? What legacy will I leave for future generations of judges and lawyers? The Chief Justice had said a month ago that such questions were being raised. The answers to most of these questions are beyond my control and I may never get the answers to some of them, he said.
