Nagpur, Leader News Service: Congress leader and former minister MLA Sunil Kedar, convicted in the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank bond scam case, has been sentenced to 5 years in jail. Nagpur District and Sessions Court pronounced the sentence today (22nd).

Sunil Kedar was convicted in the much debated, highly publicized Nagpur District Bank (NDCC) scam. This has created a stir in the Congress politics of the district. Six people, including Kedar, were found guilty and three were acquitted. The decision in the case, which proceeded during the first winter session, was announced this afternoon.

In 2002, a home trade scam of more than Rs 152 crore was exposed in NDCC Bank. Then former minister Sunil Kedar was the chairman of the bank. He is also the main accused in this case. Home Trade Ltd. Mumbai, Indramani Merchants Ltd. from the Bank's funds in 2001-02, when Kedar was the Chairman of Nagpur District Central Bank. And government securities were purchased from some other companies. This investment was made in violation of the provisions of the Co-operative Act. Later, due to the bankruptcy of this private company, the money of the farmers deposited in the bank also got lost. A case was registered against Kedar and some others. Apart from this, a case was filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in this matter. Scams related to this company took place across the country. A total of 19 cases were registered in this case in four states. In all these, Ketan Seth, who worked as a security broker, has been made an accused.
