The boat capsized in Bhatye Bay near Ratnagiri town. The accident took place around nine o’clock on Thursday morning. The sunken boat was newly built. The accident happened when the new boat of Sajjad Sakharkar was being tested. At this time the boat overturned in the bay due to the current of the bay water. As soon as the boat capsized, the six sailors in the boat jumped into the bay. At first the sailors climbed aboard the overturned boat for rescue. As soon as the other fishermen who were fishing in the area noticed this, they rushed to the rescue of these sailors. A ring was formed around the sunken boat with the help of other boats for safety and to reduce the impact of the waves. The first sailors were safely taken to another boat. After this the sunken boat was brought to Rajivada Bay. In this incident, the network has lost around Rs 2 lakh.
