RIYADH β Professor Chuck Yoo, a renowned computer scientist from Korea University, emphasized the need to balance technological advancement with environmental concerns as AI continues to reshape industries.
In a recent interview with the GAIN Podcast, he highlighted the significant benefits brought by AI, while acknowledging the potential environmental impact, particularly from the energy-intensive processes involved in training large language models, and stressed the importance of developing energy-efficient technologies, such as nuclear power, to meet the growing energy demands of AI data centers.
He also talked about the impact of AI on the job market, stressing that while AI may automate certain routine tasks, it is also expected to create new opportunities for individuals skilled in AI technologies.
