Assembly Election 2024 “Electronic Media Monitoring Center” vigilance for news broadcast on television channels

Mumbai, Dt. 15: Preparations are underway for the Assembly General Elections in Maharashtra. Next Wednesday i.e. on 20th November 2024, voting will be held in Maharashtra in a single phase. The Election Commission of India and the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer are taking necessary precautions to ensure that the voting process is conducted in a smooth and fearless environment. The Election Commission of India has set up an Electronic Media Monitoring Center (EMMC) to monitor election-related news broadcasts on television channels in the country.The task of monitoring every news broadcast on television channels on the day of polling in Maharashtra on November 20, 2024 and a day before the polling day. It will be done by the Election Commission of India.

If there is any noteworthy text, scene, news regarding the election in the news broadcasted on television, the election system of the concerned district is taking immediate notice. For this, state level media monitoring and control room and district level media monitoring and control room are functioning in Mumbai. On the day of polling and one day before polling, if any news about important incidents, violation of code of conduct, law and order etc. is broadcasted on television channels, such incidents should be reported through the district election officers or concerned. The electronic media monitoring center will take immediate notice through the system and the action report will be sent to the Election Commission of India.

A meeting regarding Electronic Media Monitoring Center was held today in the Ministry. At this time, instructions have been given to the concerned District Information Officer and Member Secretary (Media Verification and Control Committee) by the Joint Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Rathod. Director Information and Public Relations Dayanand Kamble, Under Secretary and Nodal Officer of Media Room Sharad Dalvi, Room Officer Vivek Jagdale, Room Officer Mrs. Kalpana Karande, District Information Officer of Regional Office etc. were present through video communication system.0000
