Another golden opportunity to watch colorful butterflies in the butterfly village..

Amboli, 29th:- Parpoli near Danoli at the base of Amboli Ghat. More than 180 different types of butterflies have been found in the village of Sawantwadi due to the very special micro environment for the growth of butterflies as well as the availability of various types of flowers which are food for butterflies. Parpoli has been recognized as the first butterfly village in Maharashtra thanks to the support of the Sindhuratna Samrudh Yojana. In view of the great response received from tourists and nature lovers to last year’s two-day butterfly festival, this year the entire four-month butterfly season from October 2024 to January 2025 will be celebrated as Butterfly Festival. The festival will start on 04th October 2024 with inauguration. The current year is the second consecutive year of Phulpakharu Festival and in view of the enthusiastic participation of tourists in the previous year, the duration of the festival has been extended this year. This year’s festival has been planned jointly by Sawantwadi Forest Division and Joint Forest Management Committee Parpoli.

During this year’s butterfly season, tourists will get a chance to enjoy butterfly walks, jungle treks, home stays with all the comforts and Malvani food culture. Also, under the guidance of expert researchers, tourists will get information about butterfly biodiversity, birds found in local areas, various rare wildlife. Special concessions have been made available to schools and colleges for study tours. While taking a butterfly walk, students will get to see butterflies and understand more about them, besides developing curiosity about the environment and wildlife. The organization of this festival will provide employment opportunities to the locals of the villages. Also, there will be a boost for the tourism development of the village.
