BURAIDAH — Al Nassr breathed a sigh of relief as they advanced to the Round of 16 in the King’s Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over hosts Al Hazm at King Abdullah Sports City.
Nawaf Boushel capitalized on a defensive error in injury time, intercepting a back pass intended for the goalkeeper and calmly slotting the ball into an empty net in the second minute of stoppage time.
Al Nassr had initially taken the lead through Sadio Mane just before halftime. However, Al Hazm’s Basel Al-Siyali equalized in the 62nd minute, and the teams remained deadlocked until Boushel’s late heroics secured the win for Al Nassr.
In Al Majma’a, Al Fayha cruised into the Round of 16 with a convincing 4-0 win against Al Batin, marking their first victory of the season following a string of poor results in the Saudi Pro League.
Al Fayha quickly established dominance, scoring two goals in quick succession. Lopez opened the scoring in the 30th minute, followed by an effort from Pozuelo in the 36th minute. Nawaf Al-Harithi added a third shortly after halftime, and Lopez rounded off the scoring with his second goal and Al Fayha’s fourth in the 69th minute.
