MUMBAI – With just a few days left for Ganeshotsav, ST services have been disrupted in Maharashtra. On behalf of the ST Workers Joint Action Committee, as the pending demands were not accepted, it warned of an indefinite strike from today (September 3). Accordingly, a strike has been called in various factories in the state. Since the action committee of 11 trade unions in the state has called a protest, 35 out of 251 factories are completely closed till 8 am on September 3. Other factories are partially or fully operational. Traffic is running smoothly in all the Agars in Mumbai division. So the traffic here is not interrupted. However, Kalyan, Vitthalwadi Agars in Thane Division are completely closed. Traffic in all Agars in Vidarbha is running. There is no impact of the closure. However, most of the Agars are closed in Latur and Nanded divisions of Marathwada. In western Maharashtra, the traffic in Kolhapur and Solapur divisions is running smoothly. Agars in Shivajinagar, Vallabhnagar, Bhor, Saswad, Baramati, Talegaon in Pune district are completely closed. Miraj, Jat, Palus are completely closed in Sangli district. Also Karad, Vaduj, Mahabaleshwar agars in Satara district are completely closed. In Khandesh, Nashik, Pimpalgaon, Peth agars in Nashik district and Bhusawal, Chalisgaon agars in Jalgaon district are completely closed. Traffic is running smoothly in other places. * What are the demands of ST workers? A joint action committee of most of the organizations in the corporation was formed. Through this committee, ST corporation workers should be paid like state government employees, apart from giving the seventh pay commission to the employees, removing the difference in the previous salary increase, paying the arrears of dearness allowance, removing the errors in the previous contract, along with this, changes in the discipline and application method, applying the medical cashless scheme to all the employees. Agitation is being done to accept the pending demands.*What will happen during Ganeshotsav?*On the occasion of Ganeshotsav, passengers have shown huge response to ST and 4,953 extra buses have been fully filled so far. Therefore, if this dharna movement does not end, the passengers leaving for the village on Ganeshotsav may suffer.
