ST closes or what? Such a situation had arisen. The transport service of ST started smoothly from May 2022. But earlier, a large number of passengers had turned their backs on ST. The corporation was facing a big challenge to divert these passengers back to ST. The state government has launched two schemes namely free travel in all types of buses for senior citizens above 75 years of age and 50% discount on ST passenger tickets for all women. Due to this there was a huge increase in the number of passengers of ST. At present, an average of 54 lakh passengers travel through ST every day. Along with this, the ST administration has implemented many innovative activities like ‘Hinduheart Emperor Balasaheb Thackeray Swachh, Sunder Bus Station Abhiyan’, direct pass for students to school, Pravasi Raja Day, Worker Parents Day, ST Sange Tirthatan in Shravan. . Also, guardian officers were appointed from the central office to guide the departments which have been losing money for the past several years. At the local level, meetings were held with employees and officials. Bus services on loss-making routes were stopped. These buses were diverted to the routes with higher number of passengers. Along with this, the number of defective buses was reduced by half compared to the previous year. It was brought down from 12 percent to 6 percent. Also, the diesel consumption was increased by 0.52 km by continuously educating the drivers and mechanics. So diesel was saved. As a result of all these efforts, the ST corporation made a profit of 16 crore 86 lakh 61 thousand rupees in August. In the future, self-owned and leased buses will enter the fleet of ST. An action plan will be prepared and implemented to ensure proper utilization of these buses, as well as to benefit the Corporation. Dr. believes that ST will get past glory due to this.
