Action will be taken against those selling pesticides without license

Ratnagiri : A license from the Department of Agriculture is mandatory for spraying agricultural pesticides. A special campaign will be implemented in the district to take action against those selling pesticides without license.

Licenses for stocking and sale of pesticides, sale of household pesticides are issued by the Department of Agriculture. Also, it is mandatory to have a license from the Department of Agriculture to spray pesticides. However, in some areas, the agriculture department has received complaints that pesticides are being sold in medical stores, grocery stores, super markets, malls etc. without a license. A special campaign will be implemented in the district to take action against such unauthorized sellers.

According to the Pesticides Act, it is mandatory to get a license for stocking and selling household pesticides and spraying pesticides. It is also necessary to obtain a license for the use of prohibited pesticides. Doing business without a license is illegal under the Sale of Pesticides Act. The Quality Control Wing of the Agriculture Department has the authority to take legal action against vendors and traders who carry out unlicensed pesticides, stock and sale of pesticides for domestic use and conduct pest control operations.
