Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur atrocities case, was finally cremated in the Ulhasnagar Shantinagar crematorium yesterday evening between 5 o’clock in heavy police presence as per the order of the court. But the tense atmosphere had subsided in front of the police presence. The local citizens got information that some people were digging a pit for burial in Ulhasnagar camp no-3, Shantinagar crematorium at 11 am. When he inquired further about this, he got information that Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur atrocities incident, will be cremated. After he informed about this to the former metropolitan head of Shindensene, Rajendra Chaudhary, along with Chaudhary, Shiv Sainiks and local citizens rushed to the Shantinagar crematorium and dug up the dug hole. The police beat up the gathered local citizens and closed the entrance to the cemetery. By keeping the police presence, it was forbidden to go to the crematorium. The dug hole was blocked. Local citizens and women along with Rajendra Chaudhary of Shindense, protested against Akshay Shinde’s funeral, and the hole dug for the funeral was blocked. At this time, citizens raised slogans against the funeral and left the area in a frenzy. A few relatives were released to avoid any untoward incident at the funeral place. Media representatives were not allowed entry inside. Therefore, the journalists expressed their displeasure with the police.
