About 50 ST buses going to Konkan were stopped for toll at Anewadi toll booth on Wednesday midnight, police intervention.

The state government has given toll concession to ST buses going to Konkan for Ganeshotsav. Meanwhile, around 50 ST buses were stopped for toll at Anewadi toll booth on Wednesday midnight. The carriers-drivers took the stand that they will not pay the toll. This led to an argument and tension. Due to the blocking of ST, queues of vehicles were formed on the highway. This was going on for about an hour. Meanwhile, Bhujan police reached the spot. He discussed with the toll booth administration and directed the buses in the next direction. That finally relieved the tension. The state government has given exemption from all highway tolls for cars, jeeps, ST buses and other vehicles going to Konkan for Ganesha festival. ST who came from Mumbai, Pune side on Wednesday. The buses were going from Kolhapur, Karad down towards Konkan. These buses arrived at Anewadi toll booth around 1 pm. At that time, the staff at the toll booth demanded the toll from the drivers. The carriers and drivers said that these buses are going to Konkan and there is toll exemption. But the toll administration took the stand that they would not let us go without collecting the toll saying that we have not received any order from the government.
