In Ratnagiri city, a couple broke into a house at Radhakrishna Talkies in broad daylight and snatched gold ornaments from an old woman. Around this time, Sunanda Patwardhan (72, resident of Ratnagiri) broke into the house of an old woman, locked both the doors, pressed her face and snatched four and a half tola gold ornaments from her body. It is understood that some people went to this woman a few days ago to inquire if they can get a room on rent while there was a stir in the area due to this. It was the interrogators who ascertained that the woman was living alone in the house and that she was wearing gold jewellery. The couple then entered the woman’s house on Friday and locked the front and back doors. After that, they grabbed the old woman’s face and took away all her gold ornaments. But as one of the bangles in her hand did not come off, they took as many jewels as they could get their hands on. As soon as the city police got information about this matter, they rushed to the spot. The city police is checking the CCTV footage of the area and till late evening no report has been lodged in the city police station.
