On the issue of silt in Mandvi port, from January 26, we will hold an indefinite protest in front of the collector's office

The issue of silt in Mandvi port near the mouth of Bhatye creek has been a soggy blanket for the past 20 to 25 years. Due to this sedimentation, fishermen have to wait for high tide to come and go from the sea to the bay. The fishermen struggle committee sponsored by Jamatul Muslimin Rajivada Core Committee to remove the silt gave a statement to the Collector that the fishermen will hold an indefinite protest in front of the Collectorate from January 26.

Many fishermen have lost their lives due to frequent accidents in this area. Fishermen have a major demand for dredging. Promises were made many times to remove this sludge; But due to its non-fulfilment, strong dissatisfaction is being expressed among the fishermen. The main occupation of the residents of Rajivada, Bhatye, Karla, Phansop etc. villages in the Bhatye Bay area is fishing. Mandvi Port is the only way for fishermen here to go to sea for fishing. Due to accumulation of sand in this port, this route has become dangerous for fishermen. Due to this, there have been many cases of fishermen drowning due to boat accidents.
