January 10 to 13 Cycle Film Festival
Dapoli: In order to preserve the cycle culture, every year cycle lovers come together and organize the Ratnagiri District cycle meeting. So far cycle meets have been held at Khed and Ratnagiri and the next third cycle meet is being held at Dapoli Urban Bank Senior Science College Hall, Dapoli on 14th January 2024. Cycle film festival will be held from 10th to 13th January.
Many cycling enthusiasts from Ratnagiri district, state and abroad will participate in this cycle meet organized by Dapoli Cycling Club. The primary outline of this meeting, which has five days of informative programs on cycle, will be as follows. Cycle film festival will be held from 10 to 13 January from 5 to 8 pm. It will show films, videos, documentaries about cycling, and the experiences of some cycling enthusiasts who did cycling expeditions 30-40 years ago. On January 13, there will be guidance sessions, demos on bicycle identification, purchase, repair, long distance cycling, preparation.
January 14 is the main day of the meeting and there will be a bicycle rally at Dapoli area at 7:30 am on the day. The cycle meet will be inaugurated at 9 o'clock by the Chief Guest Surendra Chavan, the first Maharashtrian to climb the world's highest peak Mount Everest and Dapolikar Surendra Chavan and Hon. The full day will consist of several presentations, seminars, experience narrations, etc. These include Dr Tejanand Ganapatye who overcame cancer and became Ironman, Half Ironman Milind Khanwilkar, Deccan cliffhanger finisher Rupesh Teli, Sanjay Sawant who circumambulated the Narmada river by bicycle, Mrityunjay Khatu who overcame illness and became SR, Rocketman Ahmad Ali Shaikh, Amit Kavitke who achieved 3 SR in one year, 1000 Dr. Manisha Waghmare, the first woman in the district to complete km BRM, Prashant Dabholkar who completed 1000 km in 75 hours, Rohan Pawar, Anant Bhatwadekar of Sahyadri Randornier, Srinivas Gokhale, Nilesh Kushte, Dr. Ramdas Mahajan, Yash Mhaskar who cycled the world's highest mountain pass Umlinga, the entire Mawla Subodh Gangurde cycled 370 forts in 365 days by Maharashtra cycle, 6000 km in 85 days and worshiped 12 Jyotirlinga Yatras, Koteshwar to Kibitu, Siachen to Kanyakumari, Nepal, Sri Lanka Dr. Rameshwar Bhagat cycled for climate change awareness Vishnudas Chapke, the first Indian to circumnavigate the world by road, Gopal Sabe Patil, who started GRM, Sagar Bodke, who overcame blindness to cycle, Dhananjay Madan, Sudhir Chakole, Pragya Mhatre, Ram Joshi, Kunal Sutar etc. from Mumbai area will be participating.
Entry fee for January 14 is βΉ 300 (βΉ 150 for students) which includes tea and breakfast, lunch. Entry will be free for cyclists coming from outside Ratnagiri district.
