The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted a payment aggregator (PA) license to Tata Group's digital payments app Tata Payments, which will help the company facilitate ecommerce transactions through its platform. Tata Payments will be operated by the group's subsidiary Tata Digital, which handles its digital business.
Tata Pay has joined the list of companies like Razorpay, Cashfree, Google Pay and others to secure the much-awaited payment license. According to the information received, “The payment aggregator license will now enable Tata to enable all e-commerce transactions between its subsidiaries, which will help in better management of funds.”
Bangalore-based identity verification startup Digio, along with Tata Pay, also secured a PA license on January 1, backed by investment platform Groww. Digio will be able to provide digital identity for many fintechs and provide payment services.
