Now the government has given a new deadline for four-lane Mumbai-Goa highway. Now, the government has set a new deadline of 31 December 2024. The government gave this information during the hearing in the High Court. Therefore, the journey of the Konkan residents this year will also be through the pit. During the hearing, the High Court remarked that the increased cost due to the delay in the project is the public's money.

A public interest petition filed in the High Court regarding the situation on the Mumbai-Goa highway was heard today. The Mumbai-Goa highway has been under construction for almost 12 years. However, there is no sign of the end of the plight of the Konkanites. The administration admitted in the High Court today that it missed the deadline of December 2023. The project to be completed in 2011 is still pending.

The high court said that project delays directly affect the original cost, ultimately ending up in the public's pocket. Who is responsible for this increased cost? The High Court also asked this question at this time. The High Court directed the state government to complete the project within the scheduled time. After this directive, the High Court disposed of Owais Pechkar's petition. The court allowed the petitioners to file a contempt petition if the project is not completed by December 2024.

Two thousand citizens died in accidents in 10 years

The number of accidental deaths on the Mumbai Goa highway has crossed two thousand. 1 thousand 685 accidents occurred in the last 10 years. Two thousand ten (2010) citizens have died in this accident so far. The state government had given this information in the legislative session.
