Second day of transport union strike against 'hit and run' law; Will there be a crisis of fuel shortage?

Mumbai: A strike has been called by the Transport Union against the New Hit and Run Law. Today is the second day of this strike.

Therefore, all private bus drivers along with fuel tanker drivers will go on strike from today. Therefore, citizens thronged many places in the state to fill petrol and diesel at petrol pumps. As there will be no transport of petrol due to the strike of truck drivers, citizens have formed long queues at the pumps to fill their vehicles with petrol. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the ST Corporation has only two days supply of diesel left. Therefore, the truck drivers' strike is likely to affect ST as well.

School students hit by transport union strike

School students are likely to be affected by the strike initiated by the transport union against the Hit and Run Act. As diesel is not available at many petrol pumps due to the strike, the school bus owners' associations have decided to stop school buses for transporting students to and from school. School bus owners have said that school buses will not run on the road as diesel is not available at petrol pumps.

The effect of this strike is now being seen in Mumbai as well. Fearing that there will be a shortage of petrol for a few days, some people filled petrol in drums at the petrol pump in Kurlya, Mumbai. Some people said that they received messages on WhatsApp regarding petrol. After that, there was a huge rush to fill petrol-diesel at the petrol pumps.

After calling a strike on behalf of the transport union, the crowd is being seen at the petrol pump since 7 am today. Some petrol pumps in Nanded have enough fuel left for 2 days. Therefore, even on the second day, the rush of motorists to fill petrol is seen from morning.

The Central Government has amended the Motor Accident Act. There is strong dissatisfaction among motorists across the country against this. Transporters and drivers across the country have called a strike for this reason. Petrol-diesel transporters have participated in it. How long will this movement last? It is not certain, so there will be no supply of petrol and diesel, due to which there is a possibility of massive shortage of fuel in a couple of days, the picture of citizens rushing to buy petrol and diesel in large quantities is seen in Nandurbar district. The petrol pump has been crowded since morning.

State Government District Administration, Order to Police

After the discussion that there will be a shortage of petrol in the state, there has been a rush of drivers at the petrol pumps in all the districts. A circular has been issued by the government to all Collectors, Commissioners of Police and District Superintendents of Police in the state. The government has directed to take immediate measures to avoid inconvenience to the citizens. Besides, oil companies have been instructed to provide necessary cooperation. The government has given instructions to the administration to take care to ensure that no untoward incident takes place on the part of the transporters participating in the strike, and that there is no law and order problem.

What is the objection in the new law?

According to the new Motor Vehicle Act, if a person is injured by a truck, he must be taken to a hospital immediately, failing which, and the truck driver, if found guilty, will be punished with seven years' imprisonment and a fine of seven lakh rupees. More than 28 lakh truck drivers cover 100 billion kilometers in India. More than 50 lakh people work on these trucks. Road accidents caused by trucks are also common in such situations. That is why it is being said that the government has brought a new law.
