Two arrested with ambergris worth Rs 3 crore in Thane

Two persons were arrested in Maharashtra's Thane for possessing ambergris, also known as whale vomit, worth Rs 3 crore. Senior Inspector Kirankumar Kabadi of Wagle Estate Police Station received information about sale of illegal goods near a hotel. Police caught two people with a sack full of ambergris. Both of them from Raigarh district had ambergris, which was called 'floating gold' in the international markets. Sperm whales, protected under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, make it illegal to possess or trade in ambergris in India.
