Prohibitory order in district till December 31 – Konkan Today


*Ratnagiri, 18th (Jimaka):- Christmas festival will be celebrated on 25th December and New Year welcome ceremony on 31st December in the district. On this occasion, the beach of the district is likely to be crowded with tourists. Currently, an atmosphere of political and communal tension has been created in the state due to offensive posts on social media. The possibility of its impact during the above festival cannot be ruled out.
In the district National Highway Mumbai-Goa no. Agitation programs are being held to protest the non-completion of the work of 66. Agitation programs are being organized by various political parties, various organizations and citizens of different constituents for their various demands in the district. In such a case, if the demands of the agitators are not accepted, the possibility of creating a law and order situation cannot be ruled out.
The possibility of law and order problem arising in the district due to the impact of incidents due to trivial reasons cannot be ruled out. Prohibitory order is being issued under Section 37 (1) (3) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 in the district in order to maintain law and order. The Additional District Magistrate, Ratnagiri, on 17 December 2023 dated 00.01 of the Police Act, 1951, as per the Act 22 of 1951, Section 37 (1) (3). From 31st December 2023 till 24.00 hrs Prohibitory Order has been issued under Section 37 (1) (3) of Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 in the entire district. According to this order, the following activities are prohibited during the above period.
Carrying around weapons, clubs, swords, guns, machetes, sticks or any article capable of causing physical injury, carrying around any inflammable or explosive substance capable of causing bodily harm, carrying around, collecting stones or other weapons, weapons or implements for throwing weapons or making, making speeches against decency or policy or threatening the peace, or boasting, or making any article or gin and spreading it among the public. Exposition of images of Isams or corpses or figures, public announcements, singing of songs, playing of musical instruments, assembly of five or more Isams without permission are prohibited.
It has also been mentioned in the order that this order will not apply to funerals, religious ceremonies, weddings, social festivals, government events, employees posted in government service, public entertainment cinemas, theaters.
The Additional District Magistrate has ordered that if any march, procession and assembly election campaign meeting is to be organized during the period of the preventive order, the written permission of the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate must be taken and only after such permission, the above preventive order will not be enforced.
