Ratnagiri: In the wake of the election, neither WhatsApp group admin nor police notice

Ratnagiri : Voting for the Vidhan Sabha elections will be held on November 20. Promotion ends today at 5 PM. Therefore, the Election Commission is paying close attention to social media as well. The police have now issued a warning to take action if any campaign post is posted on social media after the campaign period ends. Ratnagiri sub-divisional police officer Nilesh Mainkar has issued a notice to the admin of the WhatsApp group.

This notice has been issued to the group admin as per section 168 of the Indian Civil Security Code. The notice states that the candidates who have filed their nomination papers in the assembly constituency or their workers should not make any campaign post on social media. The notice also advises that WhatsApp group settings should be admin-only to prevent other members from posting in the group. It has been warned that if any such post is made, the person and the group admin will be held responsible for violating the code of conduct and action will be taken as per the prevailing law.
