Ratnagiri: Panchnama of agricultural losses stalled due to election activities

Ratnagiri : In the month of October too, prolonged rains had damaged the crops. Due to this, many farmers in the district suffered losses. Now, though the harvest is in its final stage, the Panchnamas in the district are stalled due to lack of manpower due to the workload of the assembly elections. Farmers are now demanding that at least a preliminary inspection should be done.

Unseasonal rains lashed the district till the first fortnight of October and November. However, due to this, the paddy harvest was stopped. Due to this rain, paddy crops were damaged in many areas. Harvested rice is soaked in some fields. From the second week of November, the rains started to take a break. So, as soon as the rains get relief, now the paddy harvesting is in the final stage.

Farmers tend to finish harvesting before the election rush begins. However, due to involvement of bureaucrats in election work, inspection of agricultural damage has also been stopped. Now after the harvest, it will be difficult to do panchnama too.
