The work of erecting a single spacious new building of the Panchayat Samiti to bring all the offices under one roof has encountered technical difficulties. The old building of Rajapur Panchayat Samiti is not owned by Zilla Parishad. Therefore, no concrete decision has been taken regarding the transfer of seats. The proposal has been shrouded in government debate for the past 20 months. Like the demand for a new building of the Panchayat Samiti, the issue of land transfer has become a hot topic of discussion. The dream of bringing all the offices under one roof has remained unfulfilled. While the well-equipped buildings of the Panchayat Samiti in other talukas of the district are standing, the question has arisen that when will the well-equipped building of the Panchayat Samiti be constructed in Rajapur. About 6 thousand 248 sq. ft. (580.69 sq. m.) The present building of Rajapur Panchayat Samiti was constructed in 1972. The administrative affairs of the taluk are being conducted from this main building with a traditional koularu roof. Since this building built 50 years ago is not big enough to accommodate the main offices of all the departments of the Panchayat Samiti, the offices of Gram Panchayat Department, Education Department, Agriculture Department etc. are located in this Panchayat Samiti building. The offices of some departments are presently in separate buildings of their own ownership and some offices are in rented buildings. www.konkantoday.com
