The only government blood bank in the district at the Government Medical College and District General Hospital in Ratnagiri is currently facing a huge shortage of blood. So the relatives have to go door to door for the blood group bag. There are difficulties in getting blood for dengue, thalassemia, maternity, accident patients. Patients come to the district hospital from the ends of the district. About 500 outpatients are examined daily.
