The work of breaking the pier cap on the flyover passing through Chiplun town on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway has finally been completed. So now the next work has been accelerated. Also, a new pillar will be erected between the old two pillars to strengthen the bridge. The system is going to be increased to speed up this work. The flyover in Chiplun has been facing continuous problems for three years.
A total of 46 pillars were erected for this bridge as per the initial week. After that, while the further work was progressing, on 16 October 2023, a part of this bridge collapsed at Bahadursheikh Naka. After the collapse of the bridge, some errors were revealed in the construction. The central government sent an expert committee and inspected the bridge. According to the recommendations of that committee, the National Highways Department has made changes in the design of this bridge. In that, the 40 meter gap between the previous pillars is canceled and new pillars are being erected at 20 meters to reduce the distance between them. According to this new design, 282 pilings are to be erected.www.konkantoday.com
