Ratnagiri : Abhyankar-Kulkarni Junior College National Service Scheme Department National Service Scheme Department constructed 40 feet forest dam at Lingayat Wadi and Khotachi Wadi at Kurdhe.
The National Service Yojana students completed a 40-feet Vanrai Dam using 500 pots after two days of labor. 63 volunteers, 15 former volunteers and 6 teachers built this dam. Water has accumulated up to 300 feet away. This will solve the water problem till the end of April. The camp was recently held at Radha Purushottam Patwardhan Secondary School. An important activity in the camp is Shramdan.
Environment Institute’s Dr. Sawant, Prof. G. S. Kulkarni, Dr. Surendra Thakurdesai did Shramdan along with volunteers. In this activity, 63 volunteers of the National Service Scheme Department and Program Officer Prof. Ninad Tendulkar, Prof. Abhijeet Bhide, Prof. Smita Pathare, Prof. Anvi Kolmbekar, Prof. Sneha Bane participated. Alumni of the National Service Schemes Department in Shramdana, Loki Khatu, Suhani Gurav, Sai Sangre, Niranjan Sagavekar, Divyesh Bhombal, Hrishikesh Rambade, Prateek Pawar, Chitra Palkar, Deepraj Dhavale, Sakshi Pandit, Sakshi Kuratdkar, Jay Khade, Akash Manchekar, Swaroop Bhatkar, Praneet Chile actively contributed to the completion of the dam.
