Ratnagiri : Voting for assembly elections will be held on November 20. In order to enable every voter included in the electoral roll of the district to cast his vote and to enable the electorate in general to exercise his right to vote on the day of polling, all such voters shall be given ample leave or suitable concession in working hours in accordance with Section 135 (b) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Collector and District Election Officer M. Devender Singh has ordered all the heads of the establishments in the district to grant ample leave or relaxation of a few hours for voting on November 20 to all the officers, employees and workers under their authority subject to the following terms and conditions.
Every person engaged in any profession, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment in the polling area in which the election is held and entitled to vote in the elections to the State Assembly shall be given a holiday on the day of polling. This holiday will be applicable to all industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings or other establishments etc. coming under the Industries Department. Workers, officials and employees who are voters in the polling area where the election is held, even if they are working outside the election area for work, should be given sufficient leave to exercise their right to vote on the election day.
No deduction shall be made in the wages of any such person on account of a holiday granted under sub-section (1) and if such person is employed on the basis that he would not ordinarily receive wages for such day, he shall nevertheless be paid for such day the wages which he would have drawn had he not been granted leave on that day. will be given. This holiday is applicable to all establishments, factories, shops, private companies, residential hotels, eateries, other houses, theaters, trade, industrial undertakings or other establishments as well as information and technology companies under the Department of Industry, Energy and Labour. It will be applicable to shopping centers, malls, retailers etc.
If an employer contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) or sub-section (ii), such employer shall be liable to punishment as per the rules of the Election Commission.
Sub-section (iv) shall not apply to any voter whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss in connection with the employment in which he is engaged. In exceptional circumstances, if it is not possible to give full day leave to workers, officers, employees, etc., only two to three hours concession can be given instead of leave to workers in the polling area to exercise their right to vote; However, it will be necessary to take the prior permission of the concerned Collector and District Election Officer. In any case, it will be necessary for the respective establishment owners to ensure that the voters get ample concession of at least two to three hours for voting.
All the establishments, corporations, industrial groups, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings etc. coming under the above industries, energy, labor and mining departments should strictly ensure that the above instructions are properly complied with. The District Collector and District Election Officer have informed that if there is a complaint from the voters about not being able to vote due to not being able to vote due to not getting proper leave or concession for voting, appropriate action will be taken against them.
