Voting in Jharkhand today, by-elections will be held in 10 states

New Delhi : In the first phase of assembly elections in Jharkhand, elections for 43 seats will be held on Wednesday (13th) and by-elections will be held on Wednesday in Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala with 31 assembly seats in 10 states.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is in the election fray in Wayanad.

Two candidates of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) have been unopposed on 30 October in 2 Legislative Assembly seats in Sikkim. In the Lok Sabha elections held this year, Rahul Gandhi won from both the constituencies of Wayanad in Kerala and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. He left the Wayanad constituency.

By-elections as MLAs, MPs
Out of 31 assembly seats in 10 states, MLAs from 28 seats contested the Lok Sabha elections and won. Apart from that, MLAs from two constituencies died. One MLA defected. Therefore, by-elections are being held there.
Four seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 6 seats for Scheduled Tribes. Out of these 31 seats, Congress won 9 seats and NDA won 11 seats. Among them 7 MLAs belonged to BJP and 2 MLAs belonged to other parties.
