Palestinian Presidency: UN General Assembly’s ceasefire resolution affirms overwhelming global rejection of Israeli aggression

The Palestinian presidency welcomed the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution, demanding an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip.
The spokesperson of the Palestinian presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement that the vote of 153 countries in favor of the resolution affirms the overwhelming support of the world for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
These countries’ support for the resolution signifies the world’s rejection of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, their displacement from their land, and the creation of a new catastrophe, Abu Rudeineh said, calling on the overwhelming majority of countries that voted in favor of the resolution to compel the occupying authorities to implement it.
He reiterated that the overwhelming support for the resolution with such a majority confirms to the ten countries that voted against it that the world rejects double standards and urged them to reconsider their stance, which contradicts the international consensus rejecting Israel’s occupation and its continuous aggression against the Palestinian people.
The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip for humanitarian reasons and ensuring humanitarian access.
The resolution passed with a large majority of 153 in favour and 10 against, with 23 abstentions.
