El-Sisi calls for establishment of independent Palestinian state

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stated that the future of both the region and the world stands at a crossroads due to the ongoing aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese territories, which he said is testing the entire international system.

His remarks came during the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on Monday.

El-Sisi condemned the systematic killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip and strongly opposed any plans that would undermine the Palestinian cause, such as the displacement or forced transfer of local populations, or efforts to make Gaza uninhabitable.

He reiterated that achieving security, stability, and peace in the region requires the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Egyptian President also expressed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Lebanon, particularly in reinforcing the resilience of Lebanese state institutions.

He called for an immediate end to the aggression and destruction faced by the Lebanese people, emphasizing the need for immediate efforts toward a ceasefire and the full, impartial implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
