Ratnagiri : After Ganeshotsav, Navratri festival will start everywhere in the district. On Thursday, after house-to-house ghatasthana, Durga Mata idols will be installed at 425 places in the district, photo worship will be done at 62 places, house-to-house ghatasthana will be done privately and public ghatasthana at some places. Garba is also organized in many places. The ‘dhoom’ of Dandiya and Garbya will continue in the district for nine days.
Earlier in Konkan, the festival was limited to the establishment of temples of village deities. However, the practice of organizing dandiya programs by bringing an idol of the goddess to a village and installing it, along with installing ghats in the temples of village deities, has been increasing since some time. In some parts, however, this festival is celebrated on a large scale in front of the temple of the village deity. In the cities, however, there has been an increase in the number of celebrations in Gallogally and in some areas.
Idols of Goddesses will be installed in 425 public places and 62 private places in the district. Dandiya program will be organized at 90 places by worshiping the images of the goddess. Garba will be organized in many places and 36 thousand 629 private and 174 public places will be established. Since Garbya is organized mainly in Gujarati populated areas, such programs are also going to be organized in major cities of the district along with some Panchkroshis. In Ratnagiri city too, the practice of celebrating Navratri festival on a large scale has started in the last few years. Dandiya competition is being organized in many places along with Navratri festival circles and the color of this festival is increasing. As the participation of young generation especially in the Dandiya contest is more, the political parties are also seen moving forward to take political advantage of this festival.
