Ratnagiri: Dr. Under Balasaheb Sawant Kokan Krishi Vidyapeeth, the students of 3rd year semester 5 of Fisheries Engineering Diploma Course at Shirgaon Ratnagiri have been organized training in Tilapia Cage Culture ‘Maharashtra Fisheries’ Tulshi Dam, Kolhapur during the work experience period for in-depth study of Aquaculture Engineering.
During this training Mr. Degree in Fisheries Engineering at ‘Maharashtra Fisheries’ Tilapia Cage Culture Unit owned by Amit Sawant and Vinay Khopde Principal Dr. Shirgaon, Ratnagiri. Ashish Mohite and Assistant Professor Dr. Rakesh Jadhav visited and got information about ‘Maharashtra Fisheries’.
Manager Yuvraj Mohite and Sandeep Poundkar informed the students about tilapia cage culture. In this tilapia cage culture unit, tilapia is cultured in 48 fish culture cages measuring 6(L) X 4(W) X 4(H) meters. In this place, gold fish, koi carp, polar white parrot fish etc. are kept in small cages. Ornamental fish are also cultivated.
These ornamental fish are raised on floating and sinking aquariums. The specialty of ‘Maharashtra Fisheries’ is that through proper management of fish farming, live ‘Tilapia’ is supplied throughout the year in Kolhapur and Panvel as well as throughout the state as per demand.
In this training Ms. Seven students namely Kunal Bidu, Vipul Mohite, Vishnukant Pawar, Vijay Bolbhat, Prasad Jadhav, Prathamesh Jadhav, Osama Khot participated and the training was organized by Assistant Professor Dr. Rakesh Jadhav was awarded the Diploma in Fisheries Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Ashish Mohite, Principal of the Institute.
