Hezbollah confirms death of high-ranking official Nabil Kaouk in Israeli airstrike

BEIRUT — Hezbollah on Sunday confirmed the death of high-ranking official Nabil Kaouk in an Israeli airstrike, a day after the Lebanese militant group acknowledged the killings of multiple commanders, including its longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The confirmation came just hours after an Israeli airstrike in northeastern Lebanon killed 11 people. Israel has continued its targeted attacks on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, escalating the conflict.

According to the United Nations, more than 211,000 people have been displaced from southern Lebanon, more than doubling the number of those forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing conflict.

Hezbollah and Israel have engaged in near-daily strikes since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, which began nearly a year ago on October 7. The conflict, sparked by a Hamas attack on Israel, has raised fears of a regional war. — Agencies
