Two tourists died in the sea at Ganpatipule

Ratnagiri: Two people have died after drowning in the sea near Srikshetra Ganapatipule temple in Ratnagiri taluk. Among the drowned are two people from a reputed company in Jaigad.

The police rushed to the spot after receiving information that two of the tourists who had gone down to bathe in the sea had drowned.

In this accident Mohammad Asif (age 35, resident of West Bengal, currently resident of Jaigarh and Pradeep Kumar, aged 35, resident of Odisha, currently resident of Jaigarh) drowned in the water while Thuku Dakwa (30, Uttarakhand, currently resident of Jaigarh) from Ganapatipule was rescued. The lifeguards of the shrine as well as the locals were successful.

Such tragic incidents are recurring on the beach at Ganapatipule as tourists ignore the safety instructions given by the locals. Even during Sunday’s accident, it is being said that the victims ignored the instructions of the lifeguards on the shore.
