NEW YORK — Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan inaugurated the high-level event titled “The Road to Riyadh” at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Thursday.
In his speech, Prince Faisal stressed the Kingdom’s continued active efforts to combat desertification and face the challenges of climate change in light of the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative. He also emphasized the importance of supporting environmental sustainability, enhancing vegetation cover, and strengthening international action to address these challenges.
The event was organized by Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and that was in cooperation with the United Nations, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly high-level week. It was held in the context of Kingdom’s hosting of the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification 2024.
Saudi Ambassador to US Princess Reema bint Bandar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of the Cabinet and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir, Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, and Director General of the Foreign Minister’s office Abdulrahman Aldawood also attendedthe event.
