A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Gulf of Gemlik in the Sea of Marmara, Turkiye on Monday.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 9 kilometers.
Southern Turkiye and northern Syria experienced a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Feb. 6, followed by another earthquake of 7.6 magnitude and thousands of violent aftershocks. These earthquakes resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of lives and caused significant damage to buildings and properties in both countries. (QNA)
