Chiplun : Suhas Rajeshirke, the son of Konkan, the former Sub-President of Satara, is continuously pursuing for the resting place of Maharani Yesubai at Mauje Sringarpur. Through the Konkan Divisional Commissioner, this proposal has reached the State Revenue and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. Suhas Rajeshirke recently met the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar during a Jan Samswad Yatra at Chiplun and submitted a statement of this demand to ensure that funds are available for this recreation site.
Chiplun MLA Shekhar Nikam, Sringarpur Sarpanch Vinod Pawar and Abhishek Dhasal were present on this occasion. Rajeshirke had started an indefinite hunger strike in front of the Ratnagiri Collectorate. Taking note of their demand, the administration has sent this proposal to the Commissioner of Konkan Division. From there, the proposal has reached the state revenue and forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
The land at Survey No. 142 in Mauje Shringarpur is owned by the Gram Panchayat, and there are seven-twelve offices registered here. Out of this space, 40 by 30 space is required for the memorial of Maharani Yesubai, Kul Mukhtar of Swarajya. Even after the memorial, the ownership of this place will remain with Sringarpur Gram Panchayat. At present, a Chauthara has been built at this place and it has been named Maharani Yesubai Sambhajiraje Bhosale.
This area has scope for development in terms of tourism. For that, the villagers feel that there is a need to have a big spontaneity at the planned place in Sringarpur.
