MLA Shekhar Nikam met Nana Patekar, the founder of Naam Foundation and senior actor Nana Patekar, on Sunday in Pune, in the backdrop of the agreement reached between Naam Foundation and the Water Resources Department on lifting silt from various rivers in the district. Discussed about desilting of tributaries in Sangameshwar including Chiplun and rehabilitation of Kondhan village in Sangameshwar taluk. Patekar assured cooperation on both these issues. After the flood, Naam Foundation helped Chiplun to desilt the Sivan river. At the same time, about 22 to 25 families from Dhangarwadi of Ovali village in Dasapati took the big responsibility of rehabilitating them by building houses in Aakle. Similarly, now about 14 to 15 lakh cubic meters of silt from 15 rivers in the district will be pumped. Accordingly, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Naam Foundation and the Water Resources Department two weeks ago.
